Food Group Challenge

Summary:

In this lesson each food group is given a page and a word bank of different foods. The students are asked to drag foods that belong in the group onto the plate. If the food belongs, it disappears into the group. If it is an incorrect selection the word will not disappear and a discussion about where it belongs can be had. I have used word banks to represent the foods, but they could be replaced with pictures for non-readers.

Food Group Challenge

I really like the way that you've made a game out of healthy food choices. We have a serious diabetes epidemic on our hands in South Texas and this type of fun activity can make it easy for kids to learn about healthy nutrition.
