Student Reflection

Along with student interaction, many teachers are asked to increase student self reflection on learning. How have you used Mimio to encourage students to reflect upon their learning?

Student Data Tracking

I've used the Mimio software to help student reflect on a lesson by tracking their understanding after a lesson by creating a chart on the MimioNotebook and cloning four different symbols to represent the four cooperative groups in the classroom. Each student will click and drag a symbol from their group to somewhere on the chart to tell where they think they are on a level of 1-4 of understanding. Since it is anonymous, after each student has clicked and dragged a symbol we can determine which group need to have group talk to make sure each person is understanding the information.

action

hi, in my lessons of English language, I let them use mimio tools in the lecture in order to make them more active, they are teenagers and most of the time need much motivation. Using the board, letting them go in front of the group having fun with the mimio tools guided by the teacher, awake them into participation, so they can be more active. Then after they participate I ask them if they felt the lesson more interactive and participative, most of the time they answered yes, replying and asking for more active participation in the lecture.

Student's Interacting with the Lesson

I agree that the students need that extra motivation to get up and do things on the board with the stylus in order to stay "alive" in the classroom.
