Technology in classroom

Since most, if not all, of our students have the latest technological gadgets it places a greater "burden" on teachers to try and keep students involved and interested. Technology such as Mimio allows teachers to give students what is needed to keep them involved and interested.

I've redesigned my classroom

I've redesigned my classroom as part of changing how I teach.

http://dragonsinger.edublogs.org/2009/06/18/elearning-classroom20/ - this link is about part of my eLearning journey.

http://dragonsinger.edublogs.org/2009/06/26/5-year-old-visitors/ - this link has an embedded video of when we had some 5 year old visitors in our classroom.

I'm on an ongoing eLearning journey with my class. We are using our classwork blog (we have a publishing blog too) to facilitate a lot of the learning.

The only time I'm doing upfront teaching is when I'm using the mimio (starter activities; brainstorming etc) or doing some whole class teaching (even then usually with mimio or an interactive website); the rest of the time I'm working either with small groups on the mat or working with small groups around their computer.

Cool Idea

Jo,
I can easily see how this computer placement would impact how students work! In most of our elementary classrooms there are 5-7 student stations and because they are placed against the wall they ARE used during centers but not utilized throughout the day as an integral part of instruction and learning. Thank you for sharing......I have some ideas where this just might be easily accepted in the district....can't wait to share:)

Agree with you since most, if not all, of our students have the latest technological gadgets it places a greater "burden" on teachers to try and keep students involved and interested. Technology such as Mimio allows teachers to give students what is needed to keep them involved in bulk email hosting and interested.
