This website is for elementary students learning about financial literacy. Students create an astronaut to travel to planet orange. Once there, students complete missions by learning about different aspects of personal finance.
I made one astronaut for the class and we spend a few minutes doing a mission to introduce vocab to my middle school students. The lesson plans on the teacher portion of the site integrate the interactive student website and are broken down into low, middle, and upper elementary. I easily modify the upper elementary lessons for my middle school classroom. The lessons are great and the interactive kids site makes learning the vocab so much more fun.
Two things: 1. You will need to create a teacher account to view the lessons and then a kids account to complete the missions on the mimio. In the upper right corner of the teacher page is a link to the kids site to toggle back and forth between the sites. 2. I have a volunteer complete a quick game to start class each day, they take 1 minute and the kids earn money to buy fuel and items for their avatar. Then kids can click through 2 slides of the mission and hand off the pen. If you don't finish a mission in class (they are pretty quick, but it has happened) the site doesn't save your progress so you have to repurchase fuel and start the slides anew.
