How I Love Mimio...or Excuse Me While I Wax Poet-tech

mkalowe's picture

How much do you love using Mimio in your classroom?

Answer:

Valentine's Day is upon us, and I have a new love - to be honest.
After decades of teaching, of striving, of reaching
young minds in the halls of my school -
I find myself having a blast in my class with a tool that is totally cool!

It's white and it's sleek - completely unique
in the way it can get students learning.
And the Pad is so rad that my students are sad when the
clock shows that class time is burning.

They come to my board with nary a cord,
and move things around with a stylus.
They're having such fun, they don't even run
when the bell rings -
They almost seem tireless!

When it comes to a test, my class does it best
When using the MimioVote.
The colors are pleasing, anxiety-easing,
and quickly the students take note.
The answers come surely, and admin says purely
my students aren't missing the boat.

So here's to this Valentine's Day
and hooray for the Mimio way!
Engage, interact!
Let's all make a pact
to use Mimio every day.

Cameron.Nichols's picture

The light on my MimioTeach is an amber color and I can't get it to calibrate at all. Any suggestions?

Answer:
Looks like you need some help with pairing your MimioHub with your MimioTeach. Here are the steps you will need to follow in order to sync these two units (Make sure your MimioHub is connected to your computer)

1. Open Mimio Settings in the software. Go to Classroom Devices.

2. You will see the MimioHub listed. (if it’s not there, the MimioHub is not in a USB port)

3. Hold down the status light (button) for about 5-7 seconds. It will start flashing amber and you will see MimioTeach appear on your list of Classroom Devices. It will say “available.”

4.Select the device and click Connect.

5.The Status light on the MimioTeach will turn solid green.

Adding Question Templates to your MimioStudio Notebook Lessons

Cameron.Nichols's picture

Is there a limit to how many questions you can ask on a MimioVote test?

Answer:
What a great question! You will be happy to know that there is no limit to the number of questions you can ask on any given test using the MimioVote Assessment System so feel free to ask away. The only issue you may run into, and this of course depends on your computer, is adding too many questions may slow things down a little bit when using the file. Just remember as part of our MimioStudio Software, your Gallery comes with wonderful Question Templates that are designed to use with the MimioVote Assessment System. However, you can still use the Question Template if you do not have the MimioVote. To do this, open your Gallery, go to and expand the Questions and Results folder, open up the Questions folder. Now choose the template you’d like, drag it out into MimioNotebook, resize as needed and add in your question and answer choices and you are ready to go! Left clicking once inside the template will open up the text fields where you can enter the question and answer choices. Click on the circle to the left of the correct answer choice and you will see a green check appear. You can change other settings by clicking on the icon in the lower right hand corner of the template. Once you finish, click outside of the template and it is ready to use. To reveal the correct answer simply click on the blue button at the bottom center of the Question Template. Please watch THIS wonderful video tutorial showing you how easy it is to add question templates to your lesson! Using Shapes and Lines to Enhance Your MimioStudio Lessons

mkalowe's picture
Where can I find different shapes to add to my lessons from the MimioStudio toolbar?

Answer:
Would you like to quickly add shapes, lines, and even transparent objects to your interactive lessons?

The MimioStudio Toolbar allows you to easily add content to your MimioStudio Notebook such as: rectangles, squares, triangles, circles, lines, and more. You can even make objects in your lessons transparent by using the MimioStudio Shape and Line Tools.

The short video below will demonstrate where you can find the Shape and Line Tools on your MimioStudio Toolbar. The video also reveals how these simple shapes and lines can be used in your lessons to enhance student interaction and engagement.

The Shape and Line Tools can be found under the 3rd icon to the right on the MimioStudio toolbar. By right-clicking on that icon, you will bring up a drop-down menu of shapes, as well as line/arrow choices for your lessons. Choose a shape, choose your color for both the interior and exterior, then click and drag on your Mimio page to create your shape. Experiment with shapes and lines to add interest to your lessons!

If you would like to learn even more about the MimioStudio Line and Shape Tools and take your skills to the next level, you might be interested in attending our MimioStudio Basics I: A Tour of MimioStudio Quick Learn session. Getting the Most Out of Your MimioVote

mkalowe's picture

I have a MimioTeach and MimioVote system. I am trying to create a lesson using the voting clickers but when I bring in a question from the gallery box it doesn't bring a vote toolbar. How do I get the toolbar?

Answer:
You can create questions for assessment on any computer where MimioStudio software is installed. The MimioVote toolbar will only appear when your MimioVote Assessment System is connected to a computer. First, verify that your MimioHub is connected to the computer's USB port.

Press and hold the status light on the MimioVote charging tray until it begins to blink (approximately 5-10 seconds). Open Mimio Notebook. Select the Tools menu, then select Settings. Select Classroom Devices - the MimioVote should show as Available under the Status column. Select MimioVote from the list and then select the Connect button. The MimioVote status should change to Connected. You should see a steady green light on the MimioVote charging tray when it is connected correctly to your computer. You can pair your MimioTeach to your computer in the same way - using the same MimioHub.

In order to get the most out of your MimioVote system, I highly recommend our free Mimio Quick Learn sessions. Click here for more information about the next scheduled Quick Learn session on the MimioVote assessment system.
